Week 4 Blog Post - LA Americanization Newsletter

Dear members of the Los Angeles Americanization Movement,

First, I want to thank you for your dedication to the Americanization efforts here in our wonderful city of Los Angeles. I want to remind you all that the work we are doing is only becoming increasingly more important as the number of non-natives continues to swell. As the Mexican percentage of the population grows, we must maximize efficiency and effectiveness in the actions we take.  I propose redirecting our focus of Americanization efforts to the women as opposed to trying to reform the men as we have been up to this point. In Mexican households, the mothers have very strategic and influential positions. We can use this motherly influence to create social changes that start in the home and will thus extend out into the public sector. Targeting mothers is especially important because it will allow our message and actions to translate into the next generation.

There will be three important principles that we must instill in them.  We must encourage healthier diets, dedicated work ethics, and most importantly the use of the English language.  We must retrain their lazy and unhealthy habits and teach them habits that are worthwhile. Reshaping aspects of their culture will ensure that we are creating a loyal and hardworking workforce that simultaneously preserves the American way of life.  As they become assimilated into our culture, we also hope that they will begin to adopt more appropriately sized families. With fewer children, mothers will be able to properly train each child to be a suitable citizen.

Once properly trained, these reformed immigrants will become models of the ideal non-native citizen and will be able to help spread the efforts of Americanization.  I strongly believe that with this more targeted approach we will be able to create a more effective chain reaction.
I look forward to discussing these proposals further in our meeting this Friday.

God Bless America.
