A Letter from Rachel Dolezal to Caitlyn Jenner
Hey Caitlyn,
It's me, you're old friend, Rachel, well now Nkechi. Yes, we may not actually be friends, but after sharing the media spotlight for that brief time in the summer of 2015, I feel as if we are old acquaintances. I've been wanting to reach out to you for a while, but now it feels as if enough time has passed so its appropriate to do so. I just wanted to ask several questions and toss a couple of ideas back and forth.
So, honestly, do you think people can be Transracial? Do you think I have a right to change races? It's just so difficult for me to comprehend why you were so accepted by the world, and I was ridiculed. I mean, it's kind of ironic. I was literally the head of a NAACP chapter and had spent the majority of my life advancing the rights of black people, and you voted for Trump and are a Republican. I understand that I did deceive people about my "background", but in this day and age, what does that even mean? I chose how I lived out my life, and to be ridiculed for that is crazy. While there are calls that I used my racial identity to advance my career, that doesn't necessarily undermine how I feel. I mean I attended two historically black colleges without the intent to profit or enhance my position in life. I mean, while I admit you didn't switch genders for profit, you indeed did profit off of it and even made a reality show chronicling your life. Come on, you're wealthy and white, how hard could your life have been? I can't help but feel hard done by the fact I am a woman and someone who identifies now as a woman of color and especially a woman of color who is poor, I don't enjoy the same advantages to acceptances that you did.
Anyways, let me know what you think. If you feel bad, maybe send me some money, I'm on food stamps FYI.
Your "Friend",
Nkechi (Rachel)
